    Smörgåsbord
    Art exhibition of artworks by 25 artists

    6.30pm-8.30pm

    Exhibition runs from Saturday 29th November until Saturday 20th December 2025.

    Join us this Friday evening for the opening of our new exhibition Smörgåsbord. A group show of a variety of small works by 25 artists using drawing, painting, photography, sculpture and textiles. You are invited to come and see the work, and for some food and drinks. Snacks welcome. Art works are for sale.

  3. DOLPHIN DERBY

    Jane Stewart is running Dolphin Derby costume workshops  at The Nose on the run up to the Walton Dolphin Derby in Saturday 7th September on Walton Beach.

    These workshops are to make costumes to wear at the races, for you, your family or friends or for anyone wanting to compete to wear. Each week we will work on a different design. Workshops are for adults or children but kids must be accompanied by an adult.

    Come and join the fun. If you have spare cardboard can you bring it along.

    Join us for an evening exploring the power and politics of alternative art education as part of the mini book launch tour of How to set up an art school. Emma Edmondson and Ames Pennington will host a workshop come conversation, looking at the themes of the book and asking what makes a bad art school, what makes a good one and how shared experiences can build a utopian space for creative learning together.

    Dr James Canton is Director of Wild Writing at the University of Essex. He is the author of Grounded: A Journey into the Landscapes of Our Ancestors (2023), The Oak Papers (2020), Ancient Wonderings: Journeys into Prehistoric Britain (2017) and Out of Essex: Re-Imagining a Literary Landscape (2013), which was inspired by his rural wanderings in East Anglia. He has written for the Guardian, reviews for the TLS and Caught by the River, and is a regular on television and radio. The hardback book is available for £18.99.

    Walton Backwaters
    20th June - August 2025
    Wednesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.

    Not a Camera Club photographers are showing images that capture the special landscape of the Walton Backwaters. Starting from an invitation from the Naze Protection Society to document the area of of site of scientific interest (SSSI) Hamford Water that The Naze protects, the images show the tidal inlet, salt marshes and creeks and how they are used by wildlife and people for work rest and play.
