  2. DOLPHIN DERBY

    Jane Stewart is running Dolphin Derby costume workshops  at The Nose on the run up to the Walton Dolphin Derby in Saturday 7th September on Walton Beach.

    These workshops are to make costumes to wear at the races, for you, your family or friends or for anyone wanting to compete to wear. Each week we will work on a different design. Workshops are for adults or children but kids must be accompanied by an adult.

    Come and join the fun. If you have spare cardboard can you bring it along.

    Join us for an evening exploring the power and politics of alternative art education as part of the mini book launch tour of How to set up an art school. Emma Edmondson and Ames Pennington will host a workshop come conversation, looking at the themes of the book and asking what makes a bad art school, what makes a good one and how shared experiences can build a utopian space for creative learning together.

    Walton Backwaters
    20th June - August 2025
    Wednesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.

    Not a Camera Club photographers are showing images that capture the special landscape of the Walton Backwaters. Starting from an invitation from the Naze Protection Society to document the area of of site of scientific interest (SSSI) Hamford Water that The Naze protects, the images show the tidal inlet, salt marshes and creeks and how they are used by wildlife and people for work rest and play.

    Folklore Art Project
    Saturday 10th May
    11am-3pm, Free

    Terrifying tales of Essex old and New... The Black Holes of the Battle Ditches, glowing orbs, dragons, a spider 🕷️🕸️ as big as your hand.. an asteroid from outer space ☄️💫... Just some of the stories told and immortalised into art at the Legendary Essex Folklore art workshop.

    Artists Jessica Pearce and Aine Corr will be running the workshops throughout the day. Join the workshop at 11am / 12pm / 1pm / 2pm to get an introduction to the Essex folk tales and instructions to create your legendary postcards.  Suitable for adults and children who enjoy arts, craft and storytelling.

    Two themes to choose from this month. Eerie (think fog winter landscapes) or the night sky. Upload your photos to the Not A Camera Club Facebook page and come along to talk about them. Take lots of photographs but edit them down to 4-5 images to show.
